Presidents Welcome MessageLANet President Thank you for visiting our website. We are LANet, a professional association of Computer Networking Professionals whose primary scope encompasses what is currently occurring in the networking world. We no longer have homogenous environments; our networks are a mixture of Microsoft, Linux, IBM, NetWare, Citrix, UNIX, and a host of other systems. At LANet we try to address member’s needs by providing guest presenters that provide technical demonstrations showcasing their latest hardware or software. As a networking professional, I feel that LANet offers an extraordinary service to our members. We provide a neutral forum for networking professionals to meet, exchange ideas, and develop a personal network of peers who we can call when “our network is presenting us with new and unusual challenges.” We also have a list server where members can send a single email with their networking question, which sends their message to members throughout the greater Los Angeles area. We also get job requests from firm’s nation wide looking for skilled people which are forwarded to members via the List Serv. We hold our regular monthly meetings at Baha Buds in West LA. The meetings start with a pizza dinner. The dinner portion of the meeting is reserved for personal networking and visiting while the business portion usually consists of a technical presentation given by a guest presenter. Our list of guest presenters includes Cisco, Computer Associates HP, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, and many others. Members get to ask questions directly to the engineers either to solve problems or to get ideas on how to apply the new technology in their work environments. From time-to-time we also conduct in house training sessions that are taught by members. The topics vary based on member’s requests. I would like you to be our guest at an up-coming meeting.
